Your Perfect LA Packing Guide

Since I my sister and I live in the famed City of Angels (that’s Los Angeles) our out of state friends are always asking what they should pack in order to look like a local. My first piece of advice is that LA is a mindset- you have to feel LA before you can look it. My second piece of advice is yoga attire and a small dog.

Without further ado, here is the Official LA Packing Guide breakdown for the perfect city getaway:

  1. Yoga Mat
  2. A really smart Phone
  3. Yoga/Workout Pants (if you don’t plan on working out you’ll really only need one pair)
  4. Cold Pressed Juice in fun colors
  5. Organic Farmer’s Market Produce, Non-GMO Certified if possible
  6. Sunglasses (it is always so sunny here!)
  7. A cute cup of coffee
  8. $10 Dark Chocolate (at least 72%)

Stretchy, thigh hugging pants (like leggings) and a yoga matte are KEY to fitting in right away. I am a big fan of walking around with my mat so that people know I’ve come from a pricey class (even if I haven’t!). You’ll always want to bring a juice, coffee, or kombucha so you can carry it around. You can try holding two at once, but if you’re not careful that can come across like you’re waiting for a friend- which is not really that cool. In LA you should make people wait for you. If you do happen to feel antsy about having a free hand, pull out your phone and just hold it. Also wearing your hair in a top bun is a total must. Once you have the bun set, try messing up your hair so it looks like you just woke up. Cute!

So there you have it, that’s the Geulasse Sisterly advice you all have been dying for 🙂 hit us up next time you’re on the Westside!

Side note: Yes you can purchase all of the above in LA, but if you come prepared you won’t have to worry about shopping for produce or juices right away! Be careful about packing open containers of liquid though (like the coffee), those spill easy.

OMG, is this how you packed on the way home from Germany?! I take it the TSA doesn’t care about liquids as long as they’re veggies right? Maybe I could get a note from my doctor!

Daniel you look JUST like my (ex) hubby except you are much younger and clearly more invested in fashion. My hubby used to just wear football jerseys and jorts every day… When he would wear clothes at all!

When I moved to LA three years ago I quickly learned that carrying a yoga mat with me wherever I went would help me make friends with hip people. My secret: I still have never gone to a yoga class but carry a mat around still so I can maintain my image of fitting in with the LA scene. It gives me an excuse for being late to work in the morning when I say I was coming from yoga class! Don’t tell!

YAS Queen! I never go on a flight without hard boiled eggs! Healthy proteins are essential to reducing under eye bags due to jet lag. TY again for posting such a helpful guide.

I am a huge yoga fanatic! I don’t just carry my yoga mat with me – I also bring my yoga powder to make fresh yoga juice too. I don’t know what it’s like in LA but here in Des Moines most people don’t even know what it MEANS to downward dog! Ha!
