Rustic Winter Chic

I think we can all agree that sweater weather is the best time of year. I swear there is nothing more cozy about bundling up in tights and a cable knit and heading out for a PSL.

LA is just freezing this time of year- this morning it was down to 55 F and I thought all my limbs were about to fall off. I think most people assume true winter is only in the mountains and Russia (and I guess the East Coast?), but I’m like, hello have you tried outdoor shopping at the Grove in the middle of November? That takes some guts and a good pair of long johns.

Anyways, back to the good stuff here… winter fashion!! Us Geulasse sisters love the layered look that emerges during these cold, cold months- but we hate that it can be hard to stand out from the crowd when everyone is sporting the same hat/coat/scarf look. That’s why we like to shake it up with the things that really make a difference: accessories.

This winter it’s all about the rustic farm girl look (think red barns and floral wreaths) and my sister Prim and I are obsessed with the hot new handbag look to accompany it…

That’s right, a watering can!

It may seem like a normal household object, but paired with boots, soft denim, and a fun sweater it will literally transform your look to a catwalk level. I have been carrying around a watering can with me all this week and I swear I have gotten so many envious stares. I even heard one woman ask her friend “Is that a watering can she’s holding?” Yes. Yes it was.

Best of all you don’t need to spend a huge amount to get the look. Watering cans can be found at most hardware and garden stores! Happy holidays, Des Geulasse fans.

I wish I owned a watering can so I could do this right away. Too bad I have to drive out to the nearest garden store- which is always the worst because then my boyfriend asks me to bring him back all sorts of weird things and I’m always like what weird stuff are you into? And then he gets mad at me and we get in a big fight lol.

Phyllis I feel like you’ve been stalking me because I’ve been known to carry around a water can myself from time to time! It’s really a great replacement for a purse and whenever I want to start watering, I just go for it!!!!! Happy to see you doing well after your recent plastic surgery (hope your smaller ears are to your liking!!).

watering can’t believe this! HAH LOL
I am going to use a watering can as a purse ASAP
I also think that will dissuade pick-pocketers because its really hard to reach into a watering can without someone noticing. So chic and practical
