In honor of Mother’s Day I want to write a little shout out to the great people who help make mothers mothers… fathers. Without their help our mothers would be totally barren!
So my boyfriend (at least we’re almost to that stage) A, has a son who just turned 8 years old. I’ve seen a few pictures and he is by far one of the cutest things ever. Unfortunately, A won’t let me meet him (yet) because his wife is ‘still in the picture’. It’s sort of a sore subject for him- but I’m not too worried. True love erases all doubt in the heart.
One of my favorite things about A is hearing him talk about his son. He’s always so hesitant at first, as if he’s afraid to sound too much like a doting father! But after a few beers and a lot of questions he can’t help but open up 😉
I recorded some of our more recent conversations so you all could melt with me over the sweetness of fathers…
Me: So does your son like dinosaurs?
A: I really don’t want to talk about this.
Me: Come on, I bet he likes them.
A: Phyllis, I’m serious. I don’t want to talk about my son with you.
Me: But he likes dinosaurs right?
A: Jesus, yes okay he likes dinosaurs. He likes the stegosaurus, I don’t know. Done?
Ahhh he so obviously loves his son!!!
Here’s another one…
Me: So your son’s birthday is coming up?
Me: How old is he turning?
A: 8. I just told you all of this. Literally less than five minutes ago.
Me: I know but now I’m recording the conversation!
A: Wha-? Holy- would you turn that f— thing off?
Hah he is too fun! Keeps my on my toes.
So thank you dads of the world for helping make mothers mothers. Xoxo!!
