Halloween Special: 5 Uses for Blood You Wish You’d Thought of First

In honor of Halloween, we at Des Geulasse have decided to make the next week a little bit spooookier for all our beautiful readers! So for anyone who is doing the Carrie route this year and happens to have a quart or two extra of pig’s blood, read on for our five best ways to use any type of blood. (And if you’re not going as Carrie and are wondering where to buy the blood, just ask at your local butcher).

1. Add zing to your wine

Though I’ve tried and tried to like it plain, the metallic taste of blood always makes me gag! Even the thought of it can sometimes make my mouth go dry. So instead of trying to grin and bear it, I’ve taken my blood intake to a different level: by watering it down into various cocktails. Wine is by far my favorite. Blood combines with wine to create such a deep burgundy color- and the wine is strong enough that it overpowers most of the metallic tang from blood. It’s the perfect drink for relaxation with a kick.

2. Create an Eco Friendly Paint

Artists for years have been using blood in paint to help create a unique and saturated color, so why not expand this theory and apply it to a larger canvas, like walls? Blood paint is eco friendly (especially if you’re using cow or pig blood, which is often thrown away in the US anyways!!) and it is a total conversation starter.

3. Save it in a vial and give it to your beau

I’m totally doing this for A when Valentine’s day rolls around this coming year 🙂 Guys love when their girls give them gifts from the heart… so why not give them a gift that was actually IN YOUR HEART. So romantic!!! And for those who are too squeamish to prick their own finger, you can totally just use store bought blood for this. Just don’t tell your boyfriend 😉

4. Make Diet Conscious Jello Shots

Tired of eating jello shots at parties that you know are, like, 100% sugar and no nutritional value? Blood is the perfect replacement, as it can be thickened and congealed to a jelly like texture without all that added sugar- plus it is full of protein, calcium, iron, and vitamin C. I plan on making a couple trays full for the Halloween party I’m hosting this weekend!

5. Give yourself a blood bath

Or a blood facial. Kim Kardashian did it. I know this one might sound a little strange, since we don’t often put blood on our faces, but like I mentioned in #4, blood is full of nutrients! Plus it’s such a fun thing to instagram- people will totally be commenting all over your photo.

Blood paint is honestly one of the most interesting ideas ever. I think the world is seriously lacking in eco friendly paints.

The idea of wearing a vial of your own blood to entice your lover…or someone/thing else…is pretty cool. I could use that for my extracurricular activities…which totally includes modeling where my friends yell “YASS GIRL SLAY”. I think the vial would help me get more…clients. Thanks! xoxo

Every morning I find that people seem to have left offerings of bottled blood on my front porch for my husband. But, they don’t realize he works the night shift so the blood will go bad before he wakes up. I should try to make Jell-O shots with it so it doesn’t spoil. I’m always looking for new recipes for my special man that goes with his strict diet! Mulțumesc, Primrose!

I was going to go with that great Marilyn Monroe costume you put together in your other post but had a small mishap while trying to add a little zing to my wine. I probably shouldn’t have tried since I already had three glasses anyway. Anyhow, now I’m deciding to go as that high school loser girl from that movie Carrie. I need to lay down for a second before I go out though because I feel a little light headed. Thanks bloodsista!
