DIY Art Deco Ice Cubes

With the summer season literally around the corner, I think most of us are ready to break out those ice cold drinks in tall glasses while we lounge by the poolside. I mean honestly, is there anything better than sipping a margarita on the rocks while soaking up the sun??

Personally I like to take my drinks game to the next level by focusing on the details. A mini umbrella, cute straw or even slices of fruit are so easy to add but look so elegant! And one of my absolute favorite additions are decorative ice cubes. They are CRAZY EASY to make and they totally transform a drink from blah to WOW.

All you have to do is fill an ice cube tray with water and literally ANY item you think will look good. I usually stick to things that are edible (since the ice cubes will melt into your drink) but small plastic toys or figurines work as well (as long as there are no children present to choke on them).

I am currently obsessed with using fresh grass clippings because they retain such a rich, summery green color and they look so perfect in ice!! The best part is the abstract forms of grass create a sense of understated elegance that I think goes well with either a daytime or an evening affair.

I love plums so much, they are probably my favorite fruit. I eat them every (and of course I always wash them). My boyfriend loves the plum tart I make.
